Pudgy Starships

Pudgy Starships

It’s all the TIE Fighter’s fault.

There I was, trying to do a quick sketch, when the pen had to slip and make this weird squiggle inside what was supposed to be the outline of the cockpit. Never one to give up easily, I proceeded to work that unexpected bit of ink into what became the cockpit window.
However, the original circle I had drawn for the entire cockpit was now just the window, so along comes a bigger circle. A circle which is, of course, a bit out of proportion with the wing I had already drawn.

And thus a just as strangely-proportioned X-Wing is born, to cleverly trick people into the idea that I had planned this all along.

A trick which I have apparently just ruined.

Oh well.

A Fine Concept

Mustafar Monkey

How I managed to get a copy of this image I shall not say, for I do not want to expose any of my trusted spies as they go about their surreptiotios business throughout the inner workings of the video game industry’s sewer pipes and coat closets. Anyway, it’s quite obviously a bit of concept art for LucasArts’ Monkey Island 5: The Force of Monkey Island.

Personally, I think this looks like a good start, and seems to point toward a good deal of simian-Jedi action, battling the minions of LeChuck The Ghost Zombie Demon Colossus Sith Pirate.

Concerning Owls and Wands

Owl and Wand
Okay, so a while back I came up with this random image in my head, which, after a few iterations, became what you see above. I have to admit though, I didn’t really ever figure out what this particular barn owl might be doing with this specific wand.

So anyway, I thought this might be a good time to try a bit of reverse illustration, in which you get to give the “original” bit of story (a paragraph or two) in which the pictured event happens. I suppose you could think of it as concise fan fiction, but with less fawning over Sirius Black (or so one hopes).

And while we’re on the subject of wands, It’s interesting how precisely evil You-Know-Who’s looks. I wonder if Ollivander made one like that every once in a while just to keep from discriminating against certain types of wizards. I can just imagine Tom Riddle getting his wand…

Tom: Actually… er, I was wondering if I could take a look at your Artful Devilry™ and Brimming with Evilness™ collections…
