Tried out a new painting app for the iPad last week—ArtRage. Unlike other programs, it attempts to simulate real paint behavior, so your “brush” leaves directional streaks that cast shadows in the simulated lighting, and previously-applied paint can mix with what you’re currently putting down. It’s pretty clever, and gives a lot more character to the finished work.

So, as the title may or may not suggest, this was done on my iPhone, using a simple drawing application.

As can be seen, precision isn’t the easiest thing to manage when using your finger to draw lines that are smaller in width than it is. I hope to get better, though, for having a portable digital sketchbook could come in quite handy.
