Dirt
The subject of this episode of Barefoot Kraken is dirt. (Brought to you by Nat, who enjoys coming up with evil topics whenever possible.)
I was tempted to just draw a pile of it, but that was a little too boring, even for revenge. And anyway, how could I pass up any opportunity to draw a creepy kid?
Mantis
Here’s another in-class sketch, with a bit of color thrown in for fun.
The Flood: Origins
And here’s what they looked like in Halo 1… er, “Combat Evolved”, sorry.
The Flood
Yes, I know… More Halo, but Bungie deserves it.
Anyway, I’ve always found these little guys pretty interesting, so this is a sketch I knocked out during one of the breaks in class last night.
They’ve actually changed quite a bit since their appearance in the first Halo, so I may have to try out the other iterations at some point…
Drunk Aardvark
You can all thank Josiah for this one. He seemed to think it quite imperative that we darken the reputation for sobriety that aardvarks everywhere seem to enjoy.
And why not, I suppose. They have problems too. Problems for which the only solution is the bold taste and clean finish of a Budweiser Select.
Illustration Friday: Visitors

It’s been a while, but here’s this week’s Illustration Friday topic: visitors.
Okay, I know I’ve done giant slugs before, but they’re just so applicable… I can’t help it.
Silhouette and Shadow
In honor of the July 1st launch of TimeSlingers.com, I thought I’d put up this bit of sort-of-concept art. I had done it while just trying to think of illustration ideas for one of the episodes, though I wasn’t really planning on using it for that one.
It did, however, form the basis for the illustration of another episode… you’ll have to keep an eye out for it.
Dinosaur in a Bag
Why it’s in a paper bag, I have no idea. Probably either looking for choice morsels of tender veal, or someone just bought it at the grocery store. The latter is more likely.
